Marching Band – The Marching Colonel Band is a co-curricular activity that occurs during the summer and fall each year. Summer Band Camp occurs the last 3 weeks in July, consisting of one week of visual camp and two weeks of full band camp. During the school year, rehearsals are held each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday immediately after school until 7 PM. The Marching Colonel Band performs at home football games and competes at many KMEA sanctioned events throughout the fall. The Colonel Band has qualified for KMEA State Finals in Class 4A for the past 3 consecutive seasons. This past season, the Colonel Band ended the season with a 3rd place finish in class 4A.
Concert Band – The Concert Band at CCHS is one of the premier performing ensembles of the band program. The CCHS Concert Band consistently receives Distinguished ratings at the Annual Concert Assessment, performing high quality literature that challenges and develops student musicians. Concert Band students are strongly encouraged to take private lessons, own their own high quality instrument, and practice regularly. Students are also encouraged to audition for All State, All-District, and participate in various collegiate honor band experiences.
Percussion Ensemble – The CCHS Percussion Ensemble is a course offering for all percussion students involved in the percussion program. During the Fall Months, these students use class time to prepare and rehearse the Marching Drumline and Front Ensemble. The CCHS Percussion Ensemble performs at all CCHS Band Concerts and events. The Percussion Ensemble at CCHS also participates in the Hopkinsville-Christian County Percussion Ensemble that competes competitively during the winter months. In 2021, the CCHS Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Education Association Professional Development Conference, a high and prestigious honor.
Colorguard – The CCHS Colorguard is open through audition to all Christian County Middle and High School students in grades 7-12. Colorguard competes with the Marching Band in the fall. During the winter months, the Varsity and JV Winterguard compete. Participation in the CCHS Colorguard and Winterguard does not require previous experience to attend tryouts. All students are welcome to attend.
Jazz Band – The CCHS Jazz Band is a course offering for students participating in the Colonel Band Program. In 2022, the CCHS Jazz Band was selected to perform at the Kentucky Music Education Association Professional Development Conference, a very prestigious honor that is given to groups following a competitive audition process.
Pep Band – The Colonel Pep Band performs at all Home Football games and selected Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball games throughout the season. At football games, the band performs their competitive marching band show at halftime. The Pep Band travels to tournament games and supports our Colonel Football and Basketball teams throughout their season.
